The MDU or the Medical Defence Union is the biggest union dedicated to indemnifying their member physicians when it comes to claims made against them for clinical negligence. As professionals, the medical doctors are always the target of lawsuits that seek to damage their reputation or even aim to revoke their licence to practise. Some doctors who are not so lucky even spend time in jail.

The organisation was created by doctors for doctors, with current members in the medical profession including dentists and other health professionals. Their rich history goes as far back as 1885 and their long history has allowed them to gain enough experience to be able to adequately protect the interests of their members.

The MDU has always been ahead of the curve. They are actually the first of its kind in the world and was also the first to utilize a 24 hour support line for their members. One of their most important innovations is the employment of a full time in-house team of lawyers that serve as legal counsel for their members.
